How much does it cost to paint my interior
I have been painting residential homes for over 20 years and have been estimating for around 9 years. So with all my experience I hope to give you an idea of how much your interior will cost to paint by a licensed professional. When determining cost to paint an interior, I like to break down your interior into sections or “line items” to make it easy.
The first item on the list is “Ceilings.” You’ll need the square footage of your home’s floor to calculate its ceilings. Zillow is a fantastic resource for this. Fill out your address in BOOM, and you’ll get your square footage immediately.
Remember that this will not include garage square footage, so if you’re painting your garage, multiply the Length x Width of the Garage by 1.10 to determine the average depth of paint required.
Most contractors charge between $.75 and $2 per square foot to paint ceilings, depending on the size of the room. With no drywall repair, a single-level house would cost around $.75 per foot.
A single estimate might be a bit higher, at $2 per foot. A difficult task would be to repair drywall in a two-story vaulted ceiling with little distortion. For example, a 1,500 square feet of home X $1.25 per square foot price includes labor and supplies.
The second line item, “Walls,” will be completed similarly to the first. The cost of painting a wall is generally between $2.00 and $4.00 per square foot, depending on the experience and expertise of the painter.
A single coat, one color, and one-story home would cost around $2. A solid concrete garage floor will cost $4 per square foot (25′ x 100′), which adds to more than $400 for a 2,500-square-foot home.
Drywall repairs, as well as multiple hues, would be required. For example, if your home is 1,500 square feet and you want to paint all of the walls for $3.00 per square foot, you’ll need labor and materials.
The third line item is “Trim and Doors.” It’s the most difficult because there are many factors to consider. These factors include the condition of trim, how much trim, wainscot, crown molding, 2 or 46 doors.
Is the trim already painted and in need of a fresh coat? Does your trim wood need a high-quality or more durable finish? Trim and doors cost anywhere from $2.50 to $10 per square foot, depending on the home area.
For example, it may cost around $10.00 per square foot for a Craftsman home, including trim, priming, and painting. For example, suppose your house is 1500 square feet and will cost $6,000 to paint the windows and doors. It would include labor as well as materials.
Just remember there are a lot of variables. To get the most accurate quote the paint contractor should visit your home and do a proper takeoff. So if you interested in getting a firm quote make sure you call the pros at Maller Painting Company or click the “Free Estimate Button”.
